The Department of Health, Nutrition and Exercise Sciences is one of five units that comprise the College of Human Development and Education. The department offers all students an opportunity to develop skills and knowledge that are vital in developing a personal, lifetime wellness concept and to serve as teachers, leaders, and administrators of health, physical education, recreation, athletic training, exercise science, and dietetics. Majors are available in physical education, athletic training, sport and recreation studies, health education, exercise science, and dietetics. Minors are offered in health education, physical education, coaching, and food service. Certification is offered in coaching, first aid and CPR, food sanitation, and physical best. In addition, numerous sport activity courses are offered as enrichment courses for university students.

The Department offers a Master of Science in Health, Nutrition and Exercise Sciences with six options: a) nutrition science, b) exercise science, c) sport pedagogy, d) sport and recreation management, e) entry level athletic training, and f) dietetics (on-line). A Ph.D. in Human Development includes a Wellness option. Many of the general education wellness courses are offered through the Department of Health, Nutrition and Exercise Sciences.
