NDSU is located in Fargo, ND, a city with a metropolitan population of 175,000 with excellent medical facilities, great public schools, a wonderful park and recreation system, a plethora of entertainment and cultural opportunities, and a huge regional shopping mall. Our sister city across the Red River, Moorhead, MN, is home to Concordia College and Minnesota State University, Moorhead (MSUM).
North Dakota State University enrolls over 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students; offers 98 bachelor's degree programs, 51 master's degree programs, and 40 doctoral and professional programs; and generates approximately $100 million in research funding annually. The Department of Athletics plays at the Division I level with football playing at IAA.
HNES currently offers a 30 credit Master of Science degree with options in Dietetics (on-line), Exercise/Nutrition Science, Sport Pedagogy and Leadership. We also offer a 36 credit Master in Athletic Training (MATrg) and a MS in Advanced Athletic Training. In addition, the College of Human Development and Education offers a Ph.D. in Human Development with three options: Wellness, Counselor Education, and Gerontology. The Wellness option is offered principally through HNES.
HNES offers a number of graduate teaching assistantships for both master's and doctoral students. Graduate stipends are $4,000 for quarter-time master's students (10 hours per week), and $8,000 for half-time (20 hours). For doctoral students, stipends are $5,000 for quarter-time work and $10,000 for half-time. Graduate assistants also receive a tuition waiver worth approximately $5,000. We currently have cooperative agreements in which Concordia College, Valley City State University, Mayville State University, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and Frappier Acceleration sponsor and employ graduate assistants through NDSU.
