Certified athletic trainers are allied medical health professionals who specialize in preventing, recognizing, managing and rehabilitating injuries that result from physical activity. As part of a complete health care team, the certified athletic trainer works under the direction of a licensed physician and in cooperation with other health care professionals, athletic administrators, coaches, and parents (NATA, 2009).

The program involves extensive research and application of the latest theories and techniques in athletic training and related fields. Clinical practice will enable students to be proactive in the application of new knowledge and skills.
