1. A Bachelors of Science degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
2. Undergraduate overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
3. Acceptance into the NDSU Graduate School.
1. Documentation of 50 hours of observation completed under the direct supervision of an BOC ATC ® in an athletic training room setting
2. Minimum of "C" or higher in the following college courses:
a. Human Anatomy and Lab
b. Human Physiology and Lab
c. Exercise Physiology and Lab
d. Kinesiology/Biomechanics and Lab
e. Nutrition
f. Psychology
g. Personal/Community Health
h. Pharmacology
i. Medical Terminology
3. Current Professional Rescuer First Aid/CPR/AED card
1. Submit NDSU Graduate School Application (On line via www.ndsu.edu/gradschool) by February 1st deadline.

2. Complete MATrg Program Application found on the MATrg website.
2a. Submit a copy of a signed Professional Rescuer or Healthcare Provider card (front and back).
2b. Submit verification of observation hours (with ATC signature). Form can be found on MATrg website.
2c. Submit 2 Letter of Recommendations. Follow guidelines on application.
2d. Submit a personal essay on why you want to be a certified athletic trainer and how you feel you can impact the profession. Follow guidelines on application.
Once you have received Graduate School Acceptance Letter, the following are due by August 1st.
3. Submit Physical Exam and Technical Standards Form (both signed by physician). Form can be found on MATrg website.
4. Submit Immunization/TB Test/Hepatitis B vaccine Form (or Hepatitis B signed waiver form) Form can be found on MATrg website.
The MATrg application process is a very competitive process. Application Committee reviews the graduate school and program application and determines if a student is granted an interview. The committee will set up a time with the student to complete the interview process. Criterion that is evaluated includes: completion of admission and academic requirements, academic performance, quality of recommendations, quality of career goal statement, writing skills, interview, and disposition. No single admission requirement has a deciding factor on the applicant's acceptability in to the MATrg. Exceptions to the requirements can be made on recommendation of NDSU MATrg Application Committee. Acceptance is NOT guaranteed simply upon satisfactory completion of the requirements.
Students are notified by NDSU Graduate School of acceptance in the program. This letter should be received approximately the middle of March. Additional paperwork must be completed prior to August 1st. Failure to complete additional paperwork may result in the application being rejected.
All NDSU Graduate School Policies will be followed accordingly.
a. Must meet all Graduate School requirements.
b. Receive a "B" or higher in all graduate courses.
c. Maintain overall grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
d. Meet technical standards criteria each semester.
e. Displays appropriate/ethical/moral conduct or behaviors as stated on the ATS Student Code of Conduct, NDSU Code of Student Behavior and NATA Code of Ethics
