NDSU

Welcome

Dear Prospective Student,

Thank you for your interest in the Department of Health, Nutrition and Exercise Sciences (HNES).   Making a decision on where to attend college is a difficult one.  I am sure you will not be disappointed if you chose to attend the Department of Health, Nutrition and Exercise Sciences at North Dakota State University.  We currently offer undergraduate majors in Human Performance and Fitness, Athletic Training, Dietetics, Recreation Management, Health Education and Physical Education with minors in physical education, health education, coaching, nutrition and food service management. Our most recent employment report indicates an approximately 100% placement rate for our graduates.

Our laboratories are equipped with state of the art equipment and we are using cutting edge technology.  A number of our faculty are engaged at the national level and provide name recognition to the program.  Students in all of our programs take part in a number of field and practicum experiences and all seniors have an off-campus capstone experience in a setting of their choice prior to graduation.

There are two undergraduate health education options at NDSU – the community health education option or the school health education option.

Community Health Education Option

Non-teaching major offered for students interested in pursuing community health/health promotion/work-site careers in the public sector.

School Health Education Option

Professional teaching preparation program designed primarily to meet the needs of those interested in a teaching career. It is recommended that students seeking a Health Education degree consider a double major in Physical Education.

Please check our program website for additional information!!

Sincerely,
